Ask-a-Librarian

The CFNR Library has its virtual reference assistant, FORA, the Forestry and Natural Resources Online Reference Assistant. FORA can assist you through email or chat via our social media platforms and website, allowing you to get help from a distance.

The reference service provided by the library assists patrons in finding the information they need. This service includes helping patrons locate books, articles, and other materials within the library and assisting with online searches for information.

The Online Public Access Catalog, or OPAC, is an online database of the library’s holdings that the users can access. It is essentially an electronic version of a traditional card catalog, a physical index of a library’s books, periodicals, and other materials organized by title, author, and subject.

Access the Koha Online Catalog to search for library materials.

ID Validation

All CFNR students must have their identification cards validated at the beginning of every semester. The ID Validation will allow students to enjoy library privileges such as borrowing books and accessing electronic resources and databases.

The ID online validation for the 1st Semester, AY 2024-2025 can be access via this link.

Online Reference & Research Support Services (E-copy)

The CFNR Library assists in accessing/downloading specific print resources, ebook chapters, journal articles, theses, and dissertations.

1. Document Delivery Service (DDS) – this online service provides the scanning and online delivery of print books (10% or a chapter of a book) and articles.

2. Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) – provides reference list with abstract or full text of articles on specific field of interest or research.

3. Theses and Dissertation Requests – provides limited access to the CFNR Library’s theses and dissertations collection.

4. Article Requests – includes verifying the availability of the requested resource and communicating a request for assistance to other units or the main library.

  • Please be aware of the Fair Use Policy that these E-Copies should be used for educational purposes only and not for dissemination/reproduction. Other users must request their copy from the library only.
  • The access is limited to view only.

Kindly send your requests through our library’s online portal.

Online Book Reservation and Renewal

Online book reservation is a service offered by the CFNR Library that allows users to request and reserve books online. This service can be availed via our library’s online portal. Users can search the library’s online catalog to find the books they are interested in and reserve those books. Once the books are available, the library will notify the user via email, and the books will be held for them to pick up at the library. The renewal of books can be done via email for your convenience.

Similarity Check Service using Turnitin

This service is offered to UP constituents who would like to check or compare their research outputs with published works from academic and popular databases for similarity through Turnitin.

Researchers may opt to (1) upload draft research output through this form and allow the library staff to do the similarity check, or (2) enroll in the library-created Turnitin class to do the similarity check personally, at their convenience.

Once we receive your request, we will send you an email regarding the generated similarity report or the class enrollment key for the Turnitin class.

To have your Turnitin student account, we have the following options:
Option 1: Enrollment in an Instructor’s Class
Option 2: Availment of the Library’s Plagiarism and Originality Check Service
Option 3: Enrollment to the Library’s Created Class

For students: If you wish to avail yourself of options 2 or 3, please use our library’s online portal.

For Faculty, REPS, and Staff: Kindly visit this link.
